Introducing the newest Distinctive Inns member:  Harbor Light Inn

Made up of two Federal-era homes, Harbor Light Inn is in the heart of Marblehead, MA's historic district.There’s a new kid on the DINE block. If you have visited DistinctiveInns.com recently, you’ve probably noticed that the ranks of membership have swelled from 11 to 12 inns with the addition of the Harbor Light Inn in Marblehead, MA. Quietly until now, we’ve been working to add another member property to give DINE guests an option with close proximity to Boston.  I hope you will join me and the rest of the DINE membership in welcoming the Harbor Light Inn in Marblehead, MA to the Distinctive Inns of New England association.

The Distinctive Inns of New England (DINE) was originally formed as an association to provide the ideal itinerary between sophisticated inns throughout New England.  The Harbor Light Inn not only adds another fabulous property to the DINE ranks, but it offers a stop along a DINE itinerary that’s close to Boston, and inns that are both north and south of Bean Town.

Located just 15 miles from Boston’s Logan Airport and only 17 miles north of Boston in the heart of Marblehead, MA’s historic harbor district, Harbor Light Inn is within easy walking distance of fine shops, art galleries, numerous restaurants and the scenic Marblehead Harbor. If you love watching gallant yachts in a North-of-Boston quintessential New England harbor steeped in history and maritime lore, you’ll love it here.  You’ll live and breathe history as the Harbor Light Inn’s home in a pre-revolutionary district has been meticulously maintained to strict historical requirements and the two Federal-era mansions making up the inn hold true to the historic tradition.

Many of the guest rooms have working fireplaces, double Jacuzzi or whirlpool baths, and some include a private sundeck. Room amenities include high speed wi-fi access, and high-def TV’s. Plus a stay includes a lovely breakfast buffet and afternoon treats. While guest rooms offer up just what today’s guest is looking for, the styling is refined with all the graciousness of yesteryear, right down to the 1729 beams (in one third floor guest room).

Come in the summer and warmer months and spend time in the inn’s private pool, surrounded by gardens. A snug wine bar tavern is open daily and serves, not only a fine selection of wines and cordials, but a bar menu of appetizers, soups and sandwiches. It’s the perfect place to end the day after exploring Marblehead.

Breakfast buffet at Harbor Light InnStart the day with a breakfast buffet in the sunny dining room overlooking the garden served from 7:30 to 9:30am.  Your serve-yourself breakfast will include an assortment of breads, fresh fruits, cereals, yogurts, and various hot dishes. On Sundays a special smoked salmon platter is offered.  Gluten free options are available and dietary restrictions will be accommodated.
