The power of positivity

Better days coming

It’s been one of those weeks where the news of the world rocks our very core.  Scenes of mass shootings of innocent people and massive destruction from hurricanes, on top of global and political concerns, have many of us on edge. Heartfelt sympathy for those who’ve been impacted has been the focus for Distinctive Inns of New England innkeepers, and probably for you too.  Yet, the unanticipated result of news like this is for each of us to take stock of how lucky we are, and feel blessed for what we have.

The Distinctive Inns of New England (DINE) collectively have both quietly and publicly reached out to victims of weather and crime to offer help.  It’s what innkeepers do, both for guests at their inns, within their communities and outside too.  Vacations are about rest and relaxation, but they’re also about solace and finding an equilibrium when the world outside is so out of balance.  Tea and sympathy are as important for those looking for peace as are rest, romance and relaxation at our 12 New England inns.

Given the difficult images and challenges we’ve witnessed this week, we want this blog posting to bring some positivity back into your life.  Consider this a mini-DINE vacation, meant to lift your spirits with encouragement and a sense that no matter what, there is still good in this world.  For the time it takes you to read this, lose yourself in some DINE inspiration. And when you finish, share this with someone else who needs some reassurance.

First, we bring you the Queen of comfort and kindness, Ellen DeGeneres, to remind us that there really is a lot of goodness in the world. Be sure to watch the whole thing.

And now, start planning your vacation because nothing will lift your spirits like time away with the one you love.  And 12 DINE inns are ready to welcome you for the respite you need.  Even better, go unplugged and for a few blissful days, focus on being pampered, loved and comfortable in the world. You can do that in DINE country.
