Five great ideas for sizzling savings at Distinctive Inns of New England

waterfront rooms at Inn at Harbor Hill MarinaNow that June is busting out all over, all eyes and calendars are turning to plans for summer vacation.  Let this be your summer for bucket list getaways, starting with Distinctive Inns of New England (DINE). The 12 DINE inns are in their glory throughout the summer with beach and lake views, boardwalks and Cliff Walks, boat rides, mountain hikes, mountain biking and historic or cultural tours. Whether you seek beachside, lakeside, harborside or mountainside settings, you’ll find the ideal romantic getaway in DINE country.

The first step in summer vacation planning is choosing a date.  The second task is choosing your inn, and the third challenge is how to save.  Today’s blog is dedicated to some insider advice on how to save on your next DINE getaway.

DINE’s Kick off the Summer Promotion and Specials & Packages

The best place to learn all about the offers from DINE inns is to visit the Specials & Package pages on DistinctiveInns.com.  Here you’ll find everything from outdoor adventure and spa packages to culinary fun for foodies and more. While there click on the Seasonal Packages page where you’ll find a list of all the Kick off to Summer packages, listed state-by-state with all the valid dates, and fine print. While these packages can’t be combined with other offers or discounts, many offer plenty of complimentary add-ons, promotions and offers found no where else. Act soon, though.  Most of these offers expire around Mid-June.

Book Direct

Search for any of the Distinctive Inns of New England and chances are the search will reveal a number of choices on booking engines like Booking.com or Trivago, among many others.  While you may be tempted by the rates you find there, chances are if you call the inn directly, you’ll find the best rate by booking direct with the inn. Feel free to ask for their “book direct” rate, and if you have a membership with AAA or AARP, you can always mention that too and see if that nets a better rate.  Remember, when you book with one of the third party booking engines, if there’s a problem, the inn can’t help you because that booking engine “owns” your reservation.  Changes, cancellations, or issues with payment can be handled by the innkeeper when you book directly with the inn, but should you book through a booking engine and need to change your reservation you’re at the mercy of working with a huge corporate staff to make changes.

$50 Dine Dollars given at check outDINE dollars

The 12 DINE inns have created a loyalty program to encourage guests to visit more than one of the Distinctive Inns of New England property. When you visit any one of the 12 member inns, DINE innkeepers will give you a $50 DINE Loyalty Rewards Certificate which can be used at any of the other 11 DINE properties (not valid at the inn which issued it) at check-out. We call these DINE Dollars. They are given to guests to motivate travelers to choose another DINE member inn for the next getaway. The program is simple. Simply stay at any of the 12 DINE member inns and you will be given a $50 DINE Dollar certificate at check-out. When it’s time to take your next getaway, call any of the 11 other inns (not including the one where you got the DINE dollar certificate) and make a reservation, mentioning the certificate when you book. The $50 reward will be taken off your final bill when you stay at the next DINE inn.  There is some fine print, however. For example, your reservation must be booked directly with the inn to cash in on this great perk. See? Booking direct can save you $50 or more.  I guess you could say that DINE is passing the buck, but no one will mind!
