What the world needs now is love sweet love from innkeepers

What a tumultuous few weeks we’ve had.  Between campaign ads bombarding our airwaves, and the sad news of bombs invading our politicians’ mailboxes and guns infiltrating our places of worship, it feels like there’s no place we can get away and feel safe.  Indeed, there are few places that one can actually escape all the messages of negativism, but we at Distinctive Inns of New England (DINE) like to think that our 12 New England inns are one of the few refuges left.  Enter our inns and find flickering fireplaces, warm tea simmering, hugely comfortable surroundings and the kindness of innkeepers.  Our inns are a place where you can go unplugged from all the downbeat messages from politicians and fanatical extremists.  Enter one of the 12 Distinctive Inns of New England and kindness will surround you.  It’s an escape, and a haven from all of the sadness and zealotry that fills our lives each day.

As we think about this, we’ve found ourselves fixated on that song from 1965, sung by a myriad of artists since, “What the World Needs Now is Love Sweet Love”.  We can’t help but focus on how we as innkeepers can help our guests realize that there are places in the world where there is love, sweet love, not just for some but for everyone.  And a place that travelers can go to celebrate love and add a little romance in their lives once again.

If a picture is worth a thousand words or lyrics from a song, let the photos show the world that love doesn’t have to be the only thing that there’s just too little of.  Visit any of the 12 DINE inns and take a break from the nihilism in the world.
