Manor on Golden Pond pool

Relax poolside or enjoy a game of tennis at Manor on Golden Pond.

It’s summer. The thermometer is rising and already we’ve had a record number of 80+-degree days in a row.  The sunny days of summer are upon us and we say bring on the heat! You’ll find plenty of ways to cool off at the Distinctive Inns of New England.  Not only will you find air-conditioning, but you’ll also find windows that open and let cool ocean and mountain breezes in too.  Looking for the perfect spot for your summer soiree or New England romantic getaway?  Look no further than the 11 Distinctive Inns of New England (DINE), each offering a perfect way to cool off in pools, lakes, and oceans or bays nearby.

Today we’ll focus on inns with pools and ponds.  Tune in to the DINE blog next week to learn more about inns offering nearby beaches and swimming holes.

Prefer a pool or pond?

For those who prefer poolside relaxation, with a cold ice tea or glass of wine nearby, you’ll find a number of options in DINE country.

Take a dip in the pool at Harbor Light Inn during the warmer months

We start with the Harbor Light Inn in Marblehead, MA for the ideal pool to cool off in and relax by.  You might be surprised to see how this lovely pool is perfectly tucked away behind the inn, complete with a firepit for evening ambiance.

With Chatham, Cape Cod beaches nearby, another option for Cape Cod visitors who prefer pools to sand, is the Captain’s House Inn.  Tucked next to the fitness center here, guests of the Captain’s House Inn can work up a sweat on the treadmill then cool right off in the pool afterward.  To get the best of both worlds, hit the nearby Cape Cod beaches in the afternoon!

The Manor on Golden Pond’s in-ground pool, surrounded by towering pines is a lovely place to cool of after a game of tennis on their courts.  Set in the heart of New Hampshire’s Lakes Region, there are also a number of fabulous lakes to dip in nearby, including Squam Lake, made famous by the movie On Golden Pond, and viewed from the inn.

Grafton Inn swimming hole

Kids love making a splash at the ponds at Grafton Inn and Grafton Ponds nearby, nearby.

The Grafton Inn’s man made pool/pond is a hit with the whole family!  Visit the Grafton Trails and Outdoor Center and cool off in the pond after a day of mountain biking, swimming, hiking, and canoeing. Access to the outdoor center and use of equipment is a complimentary amenity for guests of the Grafton Inn.  In addition, there’s the seasonal swimming pond, located behind the Homestead Cottage for those looking for something a little closer to the inn.

Next week, we’ll highlight all the great New England natural swimming holes and beaches near DINE inns.
